Ioannis Douros was born and raised in Athens. He studied electrical and computer engineering at National Technical University of Athens and his thesis was on speech recognition systems from magnetic resonance images of the vocal tract. He continued his studies with his PhD in computer science at research center LORIA and university hospital of Nancy. More specifically, his PhD thesis was the study of geometric simplifications of the vocal tract and the modeling of speech production process from magnetic resonance images of the vocal tract. Now he is working as a post doctoral researcher in speech recognition systems for low resources languages at Athena research center.
In his free time he plays bridge, dances, reads books and solves riddles. More specifically, regarding riddles, during the last 15 years he collects and solves riddles while he has participated in several international competitions of solving logic riddles, including the representation of Greece in the world sudoku and logic riddles championship in 2012.
