Kastellorizo 11-13/10/24 

The most important event of this year’s festival will be the participation of researcher and director of computer systems of MIT Media Lab, Michalis Bletsas, who recently accepted the position of Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority at the Ministry of Digital Governance. Topic of his talk: “Demystifying Artificial Intelligence”.
An equally remarkable event is the online connection with Prof. Erno Rubik at the opening of the festival.

Along with the puzzles and the Graph competition, the Festival will cover other areas such as: Machine Learning | AI |  Digital Transformation |Robotics | STEM Education |Health | Environment | Art | Culture | Local tours/tours.

The parallel scientific actions will cover:

  • Academics from the Universities of Athens, Thessaloniki and the Aegean and Researchers from the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, the Research Center “ATHENA”, and H.F.R.I. will be present through a variety of scientific events, experiential activities, educational events and educational games
  • The scientific team of Neuroholics will introduce us to the field of neuroscience
  • Writer/athlete Nikos Michalopoulos will share his personal journey of life and dreams with young and old.
  • Long-distance swimmer Spyros Chrysikopoulos opens an interesting discussion with the students of the island. An example to follow;;;;;;;;
  • Science is Fun, impressive chemistry experiments by Dimitris Koniditsiotis
  • Physicist Takis Lazos, director of EKFE Ilioupoleos will give a series of physics experiments in a unique interactive way
  • An original escape room by the teachers of RODION PAIDEIA
  • George Epsimos, a teacher from Xanthi, will create another exciting Escape Room
  • The Greek MENSA. with Despina Korentini, will participate for another year
  • Funky Dragon will reveal the field of cryptography and 3D printing
  • Robotics and modern technologies by Hellenic Educational Robotics Organization
  • The legendary stargazing/sungazing by Prof. Kosmas Gazeas and his team
  • • Scientific events by the charismatic team of Science Reactors
  • • First aid courses for students and residents of the island by the Hellenic Society of Emergency Prehospital Care (HSEPF)
  • Shadow Theatre performance inspired by Kastellorizo by the most acclaimed “puppeteer” Christos Stanisis
  • Two exhibitions: “Planets in your hand” and “Planets in the universe”

ON BOTH DAYS IN THE GREAT HALL OF THE SANTRAPEIA SCHOOL THERE WILL BE PUZZLE EXHIBITION & WORKSHOPS: (1000-1400)

                                    Solve / play / construct puzzles (for all ages)

Puzzlers from the island, Athens and abroad will present their puzzles with the aim of cultivating the skills of young and old.
It is worth mentioning that this year’s event will be honored with the presence of foreign experts in puzzles, such as Oskar van Deventer (considered the top puzzler on a creative level) and the well-known for the famous cube of Erno Rubik (via online connection).

 Sunday 13/10 – 20.00-22.00: Closing Ceremony of the festival

  • Keynote speech by MIT Media Lab’s researcher and director of computer systems, Mr. Michalis Bletsas
  • The Greek traditional music ensemble “Aegean Echoes” will close the Festival.

Parallel activities

  • Saturday and Sunday morning: Morning tours of the island with Pantazis Houlis, who along with the riddles has mapped all the paths of the island..
  • On Saturday noon, the 8th Megistian Aenigma Agon (Dodecathlon) will take place
  • Saturday night: The legendary stargazing by Prof. Kosmas Gazeas and his team (NKUA) outdoors on the island
  • On Monday morning there will be 2 guided tours of the Puzzle Museum upon request
