IT CONSULTANT
With a background in Information Technology, specializing in systems analysis and programming, Asimakis spent 30 years working at Nestlé within the IT Department, in both IBM and SAP environments. Throughout his career, he contributed to major projects and implementations at both local and international levels.
He was part of the team involved in the implementation of SAP platforms for Nestlé Greece, as part of a worldwide SAP rollout, including SAP HANA. Today, he works as an independent IT consultant, specializing in the protection and management of personal data and GDPR compliance.
His connection with puzzles began at an early age, when he started creating crosswords that were published in newspapers and magazines. In a different form, puzzles continued to be a constant presence throughout his professional career. Information technology, systems analysis, programming, and the resolution of complex problems all require the same mindset: curiosity, the ability to connect seemingly unrelated elements, and the persistence to uncover the solution.
That same spirit of exploration eventually led him into the world of visual arts. His deep passion for art has taken him through charcoal drawing and Byzantine iconography, including participation in the iconographic decoration of Simonos Petra Monastery on Mount Athos. He has also studied mosaic art, encaustic painting (Fayum technique), printmaking, and photography.
His photographic work has been presented in a solo exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of the Faculty of Classics at the University of Cambridge. Perhaps, in the end, the puzzles were always there, sometimes hidden within a line of code or a complex problem, and at other times within an image, a mosaic, or a photograph.
The joy, however, remains the same: to explore, to connect, and to discover.
